President Cyril Ramaphosa says men who abuse women have no place in society. The President is addressing thousands of people who have converged outside Parliament,dressed in black calling for an end to gender based violence.

The protest follows the murder of University of Cape Town(UCT) student, 19-year-old Uyinene Mrwetyana and University of Western Cape(UWC) student Jesse Hess. They are going to be addressing   the issue the issue of the harsh penalty so that the men who violate women, who rape women, and who kill women must stay in jail for life.

Mrwetyana’s body was found in Lingelethu West in Khayelitsha last Monday after she’d gone missing for more than a week. A 42-year-old man allegedly confessed to murdering the UCT student. The President says he will visit the family of Uyinene Mrwetyana on Friday.

Ninow pleads guilty to Dros rape.

Nicholas Ninow has pleaded guilty to raping a seven-year-old girl in a toilet cubicle at the Dros restaurant in Silverton in Pretoria last year.

He also pleaded guilty to defeating the ends of justice and possession of drugs at the High Court in Pretoria. However, he did not plead guilty to the charge of assault. He was found allegedly half dressed with the little girl in a toilet cubicle in the restaurant after she called for help. A doctor’s  report indicated her private parts were swollen, bruised and torn.

Joburg CBD deaths could have been avoided.


Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula says the death of two people in the Johannesburg CBD on Sunday could have been avoided. At least two people died in clashes in the Johannesburg CBD on Sunday.

She says the meeting in Jeppestown to ease tension wasn’t meant to be a political gathering. Clashes erupted after crowds walked off during former IFP leader, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi’s address. Mapisa-Nqakula is questioning the timing of Buthelezi’s talk. the minister also denies that the security cluster is failing to thwart tensions between locals and foreign nationals.

She says South Africa is a angry nation and that government can’t prevent the violence, she says the attack are orchestrated by criminals. Mapisa-Nqakula also says the death of two people in the Johannesburg CBD could have been avoided.

I never lied about having a matric certificate.


Former SABC COO, Hlaudi Motsoeneng, has told the Commission of inquiry into State Capture that he has never lied to the public broadcaster about having a matric certificate.

Motsoeneng has told the Commission in Parktown, Johannesburg, that he joined the SABC in 1989 and went on to hold many positions. He say those who accuse him of lying about his matric, including the former public Protector Thuli Madonsela, are insulting him.

He said it is insulting for people to say that he have lied about matric.he was approached by the head of current affair and he declared from the onset that he doesn’t have a matric. Then he said to him that he is so talented and he doesn’t think he need matric to work for SABC. He said they took him to a course to learn about broadcasting.


10 of 12 xenophobic victims were South African.


Government’s justice,crime prevention and security cluster said 10 of 12 people killed during the recent outbreak of xenophobic violence were South Africans. The people were murdered in different parts of Gauteng.

It’s been a tense few weeks for the country with the violence resulting in retaliatory attacks both here at home and some parts of the continent. In Nigeria, the South Africa embassy in Lagos that was forced to shut its doors after a group of people vented their anger and attacked the premises last week.

Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has just briefed the media in parliament saying that South Africa is not a xenophobic nation. Whoever is found on the wrong side of the law should be dealt with, hundreds of foreign nationals took refuge at police stations after coming under attack, 755 such persons are currently housed for safety.


I am not here to defend myself, but to tell the truth: Motsoeneng


Former SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng told the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture in Parktown, Johannesburg that he’s not there to defend himself but to tell the truth. Motsoeneng is appearing before the commission for the second consecutive day to respond to allegations that he interfered with the public broadcaster’s editorial mandate.

He served as COO of the public broadcaster from 2011 to 2013 and was removed from the position after it was found out that he lied about his qualifications. Motsoeneng says he’s not happy with how the media has been reporting his testimony, He says he’s concerned when the media reports that he’s there to defend himself, he told the chairperson that he not there to defend himself but to tell the truth the way he understands the issues. he concluded by saying the media is there to discredit him.

Some foreign nationals happy to go home after attacks.


Some foreign nationals say they are happy to go home following the recent attacks. Hundreds of them, including children who have been sheltering in Katlehong since the violence started.

Nearly 700 people have so far been arrested in connection with the violence and looting while 12 fatalities have been linked to the unrest. suddenly facing an uncertain future after being chased from their home, about 150 foreign nationals have taken refuge in a town hall in Katlehong fearing for their safety while others have taken the decision to return to their country of origin.

Most of those leaving South Africa behind are making the journey back home by bus this week.



The life of former Springbok and 1995 Rugby World Cup winner, Chester Williams is being celebrated at a special memorial service at the University of Western Cape.

He died of a suspected heart attack last week. The former Springbok player was the head coach of University of Western Cape varsity cup team,Williams was the first black player to represent Springbok after readmission, He featured prominently in the 1995 Rugby World Cup winning squad. he played 27 test matches and scored 14 tries between 1993 and 2000.

Bheki Cele releases South Africa crime stats.


South Africa’s police brass announced on Thursday that violent crimes, including murder, rape and robbery increased over the 2018\19 period. police Minister Bheki Cele said the murder rate is increased by 3.4% while rape increased by 3.9% in the previous financial year, the number of murders increased by 1320 which was halved in the 2018\19 financial year.

Most murders were committed with the use of guns,knives and other sharp object. 1120 murders and 1847 attempted murders were gang related, Cele says he’s inviting psychologists and sociologists to assist in profiling crimes especially why violent crimes increase on Friday, where people behave like “they come from the moon”.

Earlier Major General Norman Sekhukhune told parliament that 1014 children were murdered in the last year up 2.9% from the previous year. there was also an increase of 899 cases of sexual offences against children, Sekhukhune said children committed 736 murders, incidents of aggravated robbery saw a drop except for house robberies which increased by 0.8% .


Another group of foreign nationals fleeing the violent attacks in Gauteng is leaving South Africa. Almost 100 Zimbabwean nationals who’ve been living in community halls in Katlehong in Ekurhuleni are been sent to their country of origin.

Earlier about 153 Mozambican nationals also left in three buses from a hall also in Katlehong, The foreign nationals were displaced after they fled from their homes at the Mandela informal settlement and Nhlapo section following violent attacks in Ekurhuleni last week, 98 Zimbabwean nationals are now going through their final documentation processes with Home Affairs officials at the hall in Katlehong before they board the buses that will be taking then back home.

Officials from the City of Ekurhuleni are also on hand and have been dishing out food parcels and clothing to the women and children as they prepare to make their long journey to the Beit Bridge border post and into Zimbabwe.

They are set to picket outside the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, They want to reiterate that despite the silence of  corporate leader in the midst of this national crisis and their continued business-as-usual attitude in the midst of the scourge of violence against women and children.

South Africa has been gripped by ongoing gender-based violence and attacks on foreign nationals, A number of women have been brutally killed recently.


Mbeki,Zuma expected to arrive in Harare ahead of Mugabe’s funeral.


The 95-year-old Robert Mugabe died last week in Singapore while receiving medical treatment, Former President Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma are expected to arrive in Harare, Zimbabwe later today for the funeral of the late former President Robert Mugabe.

The funeral service has been scheduled to take place on Sunday at the Heroes Acre. The two former African National Congress (ANC) leaders are expected to attend Robert Mugabe memorial lecture to be delivered by Mbeki in Durban on Tuesday.

The two former statesmen have long standing relation with the late Robert Mugabe. Mbeki acted as a mediator during a government of national unity with the MDC in 2009, while Zuma hosted Mugabe in South Africa several times including for the Bi-National Commission session on 2017.



ConCourt says spanking your child at home is illegal.


The Constitutional Court has ruled that it is illegal for parents to smack their children in their homes.

The court has upheld the South Gauteng High Court’s 2017 ruling against corporal punishment in the home. The high court struck down the defence of reasonable chastisement,saying physical discipline violates children’s right. Freedom of Religion South Africa challenged the ruling, saying while it does not promote abuse, parent’s should have the right to raise their children according to their religious beliefs. The Constitutional Court prohibited corporal punishment in detention in 1995 and in school in 2000.

The ruling against corporal punishment in the home was unanimous.



ANC councillor’s houses set alight in North West


Protesting residents of Khuma township in the North West have set alight ANC councillors house’s in the area,Police said eight houses were touched.

North West police spokesperson Sabata Mokhwabone says the situation is stable but there’s still a strong police presence on the ground. He said they can confirm that it’s actually eight houses that have  been set alight, apparently six of them belong to ward councillors one is of a municipal employee and the other one belongs to a member of the community.

Police said North West Premier Job Mokgoro and his Community Safety and Transport Management MEC Sello Lehari addressed the community earlier today.
